Pre-requisites: TEOC 6001, TEOC 6007 This is the first of a two -course sequence, designed to develop in the students the knowledge, skills and attitudes related to a variety of biopsychosocial conditions and social situations that affect occupations and occupational performance. The analysis of the impact of these disorders and conditions in the occupational performance areas, performance skills and patterns, contexts and environment and lifestyle are emphasized throughout the courses. Sociocultural variables and their effect of these disorders and conditions on the individual, the family and the society are included in the framework of this analysis. This course presents a variety of health-related concepts and some diagnostic classification systems with emphasis on mental health disorders in elderly, adults, adolescents, and children . Students are also exposed to a variety of laboratory experiences.
