Principles to Inform Occupational Therapy Practice

Catalog description

The concepts of health, well -being, quality of life and occupation will be presented as the foundation for occupational therapy services and as a determinant of health. Federal and local legislation that supports occupational therapy interventions will be discussed. Students will develop skills in the analysis of activities, tasks, and occupations to promote participation in life. Evaluation and intervention for individuals, groups, and populations will be introduced. Students will analyse the interaction of performance skills, patterns, and contextual factors within occupational participation at community level. The use of the teaching and learning process, health literacy, and groups to promote occupational participation will be covered and evidence integrated. Laboratory experiences will be provided. This course will be offered utilizing a face -to-face teaching modality.
