Catalog description

Co -requisites: TEOC 6001, TEOC 6007 This course provides students with learning experiences to facilitate acquisition of professional behaviours and skills needed to be a competent entry-level occupational therapist. It emphasizes growth of the student as a professional and as a person. Stud ents develop self-awareness of values as determinants of behaviour and skills to support diversity and professionalism. The process of clinical reasoning in occupational therapy is discussed and basic reasoning skills are developed. Emphasis is given to the importance of leadership skills, professional ethics, and core values of occupational therapy. Ethical reasoning is used to analyse problems and generate solutions to ethical dilemmas. Students develop a service activity to demonstrate professional behaviours, leadership, and reasoning and collaboration skills in the context of service delivery. Laboratory experiences will be provided. This course will be offered utilizing a face-to-face teaching modality.
