Catalog description

This course addresses the basic concepts of health, wellness, fitness, prevention, screening for risk, and behavior change. These concepts are applied at individual and community levels. Students perform a risk screening, and a risk assessment; they also generate goals for themselves and for a specific community with special needs. Plans geared to decrease risk and increase health and wellness are developed, implemented and evaluated. The following teaching strategies are used: lectures, small group discuss ion, classroom exercises and community experiences.
