Management Tools for Industrial Hygienists

Pre-requisite: BIOE 6525. This course aims at providing students of the industrial hygiene program with some important management tools that are required from industrial hygienists for their effective participation in the decision -making process of modern industry. The course curri culum covers: a) the theoretical and practical aspects of the strategy proposed by the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) for the assessment and management of occupational exposures; b) the application of engineering economics principles for th e justification of OEHS controls; and c) principles of continuing improvement used in modern manufacturing systems. The course also provides the opportunity for students to learn and use MS excel statistical and financial tools. The course requires the use of a laptop with MS Excel installed at all meetings.
