Catalog description

This course offers the student the opportunity to develop his knowledge of the occupational safety field. The course includes the study of the laws dealing with health and safety in the United States and Puerto Rico. The origin and development of safety pr actices will be discussed and the terminology used in the accident prevention and accident investigation field will be analyzed. During the course, the importance of compilation of data in occupational safety and their statistical analysis will be stressed . Visits to working areas will be programmed so that the students can apply concepts learned in the course. Particular emphasis during the visits will be offered to risk determination, corrective procedures, fine prevention, and inspection of work surfaces.
