Implant Dentistry for General Practice Residents

Catalog description
This course reviews the concepts of osseointegration, biophysics, materials, indications, contraindications, surgical protocols, rehabilitation, and maintenance, with strong emphasis on diagnosis, treatment planning and proper selection of each patient cas e. The resident, after proper review of concepts, will successfully complete a minimum of one (1) implant case at the end of the residency year. The course will integrate various modalities of teaching methodologies such as lectures, case presentations and discussions, video presentations, hands on laboratory sessions, computer programs, and clinical performance. Finally, the resident will be able to properly select and manage an implant case from the surgical and prosthodontical standpoint.
