Implant Dentistry for the Periodontist I

In this course, the first -year master's student in periodontology will be introduced to pertinent clinical and didactic information on basic surgical principles for implant placement. Thorough the course the surgical protocols with strong emphasis on flap design, atraumatic flap reflection, preparation of osteotomies will be studied. Insertion of dental implants will be practice on plastic models. The student will also be exposed to simple and complex suturing techniques, and proper selection of each patient case will be discussed. At the end of the course the student will be able to master a treatment plan. The course will be delivered in face - to-face mode. PERI 9126 - Periodontal Surgery. One (1) credit. This course is aimed to the first -year master's student in periodontology. In this course the student will be introduced to different surgical modalities currently used in periodontology. Through interactive lectures and discussions is expected that the st udent will be able to understand the rationale, indications, contraindications, and applications for each surgical technique.
