Periodontal Diagnosis and Treatment Planning I

Catalog description

Through seminar discussions and interactive lectures, the first -year periodontal graduate student will work with the phases of diagnosis and treatment planning. During the phase of diagnosis, the latest diagnostic techniques, clinically and radiologic eval uation (Panoramic X -ray, periapical X -ray, cone beam X -ray, substraction radiography), genetics, and intersulcular fluid analysis, will be studied. The phase of treatment planning and modalities will be analyzed in detail. The primary goal of the course is to provide each student with the opportunity to critically think about each phase, practice the development of each phase, describe the progression from one phase to the next, and to be able to work independently to develop a treatment plan with an evidence-based rationale for each phase of the treatment. At the end of the year the student will be able to master a treatment plan. This course will be delivered in face-to-face mode.
