Catalog description

The microbial communities associated with the human body, influence our health and our quality of life. This intensive course on Human Microbiomes, will cover the ecology of the microbial inhabitants of the human body, their evolution and biodiversity. Top ics include the concept of human superorganism (holobiont); multi-domain organisms, microbiome and evolution; ecological principles of microbiomes; bioinformatics and multi-omics tools for microbiome research; intestinal microbiomes or microbiome and cancer. Lectures, visual media, group discussions/projects, writing and oral presentations are some of the effective resources used to engage students in learning about the human microbiome.
