Catalog description

Pre-requisites: GERO 6501, GERO 6503, GERO 6505, GERO 6507. The hybrid course provides students of the Graduate Certificate in Gerontology with the opportunity to apply the conceptual framework and skills obtained through theoretical courses, as well as the attitudes and values that have been clarified, to interven tion with older adults in an institution, service agency, or community. Students will work in interdisciplinary teams to implement an intervention plan based on the needs assessment completed in the GERO 6495 Planning the Interdisciplinary Intervention in Gerontology course. The intervention plan will involve the development and delivery of a health promotion program to be offered in the assigned practice setting, during daytime hours. Among the learning strategies to be used are interactive lectures, reflective readings, application exercises and others.
