Policy and Management Aspects in Gerontology

Catalog description

This online course provides students with an integrated understanding of health policy and management for older adults. Students will explore the conceptual framework of public policy, legislation, and its relationship to the management of public health pr ograms. Topics include the public policy process, strategic planning, governance and leadership, and advocating for aging populations. The course also addresses ethical, fiscal, and logistical challenges in long -term care. Learning strategies include inter active lectures, readings, instructional videos, small group work sessions, and oral presentations. Students will complete an analytical project focused on a public health program for older adults, applying policy analysis and management strategies to improve service delivery.
