Co -requisites: ENOP 6005, ENOP 6007, ENOP 6008, ENOP 6035. In this course the Nurse Midwifery Certificate students become acquainted with basic concepts, skills, and methods that underline Public Health practice. It presents the basic disciplines in the field of Public Health using interdisciplinary approach. Through class discussions, workshops and field experiences, alternatives for meeting the needs of women and children are presented. The nurse midwifery role in health promotion, conservation and restoration, as well as disease prevention are discussed, with em phasis in their responsibility as members of the health team. ENOP 6026 - Genetics and Genetic Counseling in Nurse Midwifery. One (1) credit. Pre-requisite: ENOP 6025 or MEDU 6500. This course, through class discussions, provides an integrated view on genetic disorders of major public health importance. The preventive aspects, diagnostic procedures, services, resources for the population at risk are discussed.
