Human Sexuality and Well Woman Gynecology

Catalog description
Pre-requisite: ENOP 6005. This course is designed to increase students understanding and acceptance of their own sexuality and that of others. The psychosexual development of the individuals is discussed; as well as preparation for marriage and family living. This course emphasizes the management of common gynecologic problems including sexually transmitted diseases. Parameters for differential diagnosis, treatment modalities including, co - management collaboration and referrals when indicated, are taught. Counseling, education and provision of all birth control methods will be discussed. Legal, ethical, religious issues related to family planning will also be included. This course also addresses the management of the care of the woman during the perimenopause and post -menopause inclu ding therapies for alleviating the common discomforts that accompany aging. Emphasis is given to the role of the nurse -midwife in the delivery of effective family planning services and women’s health care problems.
