Advanced Pharmacology for Nursing

Catalog description

This course provides in -depth knowledge and skills of pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacotherapeutics. Students comprehensively focus on the pathophysiological dynamic processes that occur in common acute and chronic health problems across the lifespan and related pharmacologic therapies. A solid foundation in the concepts and principles of the most pertinent drug categories and their therapeutic implications to clinical nursing practice is emphasized. Students incorporate the scientific literature to find evidence about outcomes, safety, quality, and cost -effective pharmacologic therapies. Also, the students appreciate the psychological, social, cultural, economic, ethical, and legal aspects involved in pharmacologic therapies and medication adherence. The course can be offered in face to face, hybrid, distance learning, or online modality. ENFE 6656 - Nursing Theories Seminar. One (1) credit. An in depth study of all dimensions of the human being, based in a holistic, biopsychosocial and spiritual vision is done in this course.
