Catalog description

This course provides for an in -depth study of the pharmacology of drugs. It is designed to prepare clinical nurse specialists (CNS) in a collaborative role with the physician, to accurately describe, administer, and counsel patients regarding appropriate a nd safe drug therapy. In addition clinical nurse specialists will be prepared to prescribe medications within their scope of practice. Basic pharmacologic principles for common primary care disorders and the pharmacologic actions of the major drug classes will be discussed in relation to physiologic systems, with emphasis on the application of these agents.
