Group Facilitation Skills

Catalog description

This hybrid course is addressed to graduate-level students. Its purposes are to enhance students’ knowledge and skills in managing group functions, to develop communication skills and cultural competence, and to raise awareness of the ethical and legal aspects in the design, implementation, and evaluation of educational activities and group facilitation. The course takes a laboratory approach in which students will have the opportunity to practice the roles of facilitator, co-facilitator, and observer of group functions. The educational strategies that will be utilized are synchronous lectures, virtual workshops, socialized discussions, group exercises, cooperative learning and role playing. At the end of the course, students are expected to be able to design and implement educational activities in a community scenario.
