Catalog description

Pre - requisites: EDSA 6401, EDSA 6476. The hybrid course describes the main intervention strategies associated with Health Promotion and Health Education at the political, community and institutional levels. Emphasis will be placed on strategies linked to the development of public policies favo rable to health, namely, the modalities of health advocacy and activism, the process of public policy analysis, and the legislative process. Through instructional videos, discussion forums, and field visits, the graduate student will be exposed to the conc epts, values, and methodologies of intersectoral work and the principles of community work; leadership development; and approaches to community engagement and mobilization. At the end of the course, the student will be able to integrate community outreach actions, health advocacy, and intersectoral actions in the design of community outreach projects.
