Catalog description

This hybrid course provides an overview of health education and health behavior theory and how theory can be utilized in the field. Students will identify the impact of different physical, social, environmental, and emotional factors on behavior associate d with health; and discuss how learning theories inform health education and health promotion practice. Likewise, they will apply a theory to a topic of interest related to a health issue. Students will participate in theory-based literature review, presentations, and group discussion exercises, among others. At the end of the course, students will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to design a theory -based health education intervention to address a health or social need of a particular community group.
