Applied Research in Health Promotion and Health Education

Catalog description

This hybrid course develops students' knowledge and skills to address a public health problem by designing a quantitative and/or qualitative research project. Through virtual workshops, case studies, and others, emphasis is placed on methodological theories and techniques to conceptualize and design research. These include formulating the problem to be investigated, contextualizing the problem in a theory framework, selecting the appropriate research approach (quantitative/qualitative), and considering basic concepts such as measurement, selection of samples, analysis of information and data. Students will acquire basic skills to perform quantitative and qualitative data analysis and interpretation using the appropriate software. At the end of the course, the students will demonstrate the competencies acquired by writing an applied research paper and a technical report on a public health problem. EDSA 6401 -. This hybrid course exposes the student to the disciplinary foundations and the distinctive and unique approaches of Health Promotion and Health Education.
