Catalog description

The course brings students of School Health Certificate in topics related to School Health. In this course, the principal problems and needs of students and school community will be discussed. The themes will be analyzed from the holistic perspective, emph asizing the following dimensions: social, cultural, epidemiological, behavioral, educational and in-service. The themes discussed correspond to the priorities of health in the school setting as defined in the public policy of health of Puerto Rico and by t he agencies of health and school health in international level. Through discussion groups, oral presentations, reflective diary and field trip the themes will be treated. At the end of the course the students demonstrate knowledge, attitude, values and skills necessary to develop school health interventions.
