Catalog description
Through conferences and microscopy discussion sessions, the student will receive an introduction on the structure and function of the cell and the microscopic anatomy of the following human tissues and organs: skin, epithelium, connective, neural, cartilage, bone, muscle, vessels of the circulatory system, blood, lymph, respiratory and urinary. Emphasis will be placed on correlating the arrangement and structure of cells with function and physiology of the tissue/organ. Upon completion of the course it is e xpected that the student will have: (1) knowledge of the normal microscopic structure of the cells, tissues, and organs of the human body; and (2) the ability to correlate structure and function in cells, tissues, and organs at both light and electron microscopic levels.
