Catalog description
Through lectures, group discussions and laboratory, the student will receive an introduction on: (1) the structure and function of the cell; and (2) the microscopic anatomy of human tissues and organs as visualized with light and electron microscopy. Emphasis will be placed on correlating the arrangement and structure of component cells with the function and physiology of the tissue/organ. After completion of the course a student should have: (1) knowledge of the normal microscopic structure of the cells, t issues, and organs of the human body; and (2) the ability to correlate structure and function in cells, tissues, and organs at both light and electron microscopic levels.
