Pre-requisites: BIOE 8005, EPID 8002. This course describes how to apply research methods and address recurring issues in health services research. The purpose is to enable students to explain and use research methods. It presents the methods of research in health services organizations and sy stems, including health services research conceptualization, study design, sampling, measurement, data analysis and reporting, and research ethics. Through lectures, group discussions and independent study the course provides an overview of strategies used in the literature to translate research into practice and policy. By the end of course, the students will be able to outline their research question, provide appropriate justification for conducting additional research in this area, review the relevant literature, and formulate a study design for a research proposal.
