Catalog description

Study of the methods of research in writing and communication. Use of databases, bibliographies, and other library resources, with emphasis on citation, documentation, and intellectual honesty. Application of qualitative and quantitative methodologies to conduct research projects on writing and communication. Presentation and defense of a written paper. INGL 4070. RE-PRESENTATIONS OF EDEN IN CARIBBEAN LITERATURE: PARADISE LOST, FOUND OR REGAINED. Three credit hours. One hour of lecture and two hours of discussion per week. Study of the role of the concept of Paradise/Eden/The Garden within Caribbean literature with a focus on questioning, contesting, re-writing, re-shaping, re-viewing, and thus, representing the Caribbean, its cultures, its peoples and ultimately, its identities from a local, non-mythological perspective. Special attention will be given to the ways in which the trope is portrayed and thus re-presented in the works of various authors.
