MEDIA AESTHETICS AND PRODUCTION

Catalog description

Introduction to the analysis of media for the humanities from an aesthetic view of production. Discussion of audiovisual language, handling of mobile phone cameras, design of literary scripts and storyboards. Production of short films. INGL 3019. MEDIA, POWER AND REPRESENTATION. Three credit hours. Three hours of lecture per week. Analysis of power dynamics in the intercultural transactions and representations of class, gender, sexuality, functional diversity, and ethno-racial topics. These themes will be discussed in the context of various media particularly cinema, TV, digital streaming, videogames, and other formats of mass entertainment.
