Catalog description

Introduction to the essential elements of leadership by practicing various models, using peer-led team learning (PLTL). INGE 3108. JUSTICE, EQUITY, DIVERSITY, AND INCLUSION (JEDI) SEMINAR FOR ENGINEERS. One credit hour. One hour of lecture per week. Discussion of the concepts of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) and their implications for engineering practice, design processes, and professional environments. Evaluation of the influence of social, cultural, political, and economic biases on engineering decisions, technological access, and outcomes across different contexts. Critical reflection and analysis are applied to evaluate the ethical considerations of these issues in engineering. Discussion of strategies to promote inclusive design practices. Use of JEDI principles for the evaluation of real-world engineering challenges, and their application in the creation of technologies that contribute to a more equitable and fair society.
