Study of cellular radio and personal wireless communications, multiple access techniques for the efficient use of the radio spectrum, and wide-area wireless systems. Description of some wireless systems and their standards. Effects of EM radiation on health. Development of modulation and diversity methods to facilitate signal transmission and to improve quality of reception. INEL 5625. COMMUNICATION SYSTEM DESIGN: CIRCUITS AND ANTENNAS. Three credit hours. Three hours of lecture per week. Design of communication circuits and antennas. Several design projects including: specification, evaluation and selection of alternatives and implementation. Written reports and computer use required.
