Survey of the theories of literary criticism since russian formalism. Application of critical theory to the analysis of literary texts with a comprehensive view and understanding in the hermeneutic and epistemological fields. Study of the relationship between the development of critical theory and social and historical aspects. ESPA 4047. CALIBANAS: SHORT STORIES OF CONTEMPORARY WOMEN WRITERS OF THE HISPANIC CARIBBEAN. Three credit hours. Two hours of lecture and one hour of discussion per week. Study of short stories by contemporary women writers of the Hispanic Caribbean, with an emphasis on the analysis of history, colonialism, memory, the forgotten, identity, race, sexuality, and violence, among other aspects.
