Catalog description

Reading and analysis of the 20th and 21st century hispanic literary, artisan, pictorial, musical, and film texts dealing with the female figure as subject-creator. Interpretation of cultural texts applying discursive theoretical models. Particular attention is given to the marked divergence of the genders in artistic representations by problematizing the female subject-creator. ESPA 3406. CREATIVE WRITING: SHORT STORIES. Three credit hours. One hour of lecture and two hours of workshop per week. Theory and practice of the short story. Discussion of theoretical aspects of the narrative. Analysis of model texts. Practice of the processes, and use of resources in the context of short stories. Revision and discussion of narrative exercises through conferences and workshops. Writing of original short stories is required.
