INTRODUCTION TO CULTURAL ANTHROPOLOGY

General introduction to cultural anthropology’s main concepts, methods and subfields. Define the discipline’s objectives and situate anthropology’s emergence in relation to the history of Europe’s colonial expansion. Examine our human diversity and its ethnic, political, economic, technological, familiar and religious manifestations, among others. Understand socio-cultural change processes in a global context. ANTR 3007. CULTURE, ENERGY AND THE ENVIRONMENT. Three credit hours. Three hours of lecture per week. Study of the cultural and social dimensions of energy consumption and various energy technologies. Discussion of the social and environmental impact of energy consumption and its relationship with production and distribution. Energy policies and social struggles related to energy will also be considered.
