Catalog description

This capstone course consolidates the knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential for safe, compassionate, and competent nursing practice in medical-surgical healthcare settings. Emphasizing professional growth, ethical conduct, and evidence-informed holistic care, students will integrate clinical reasoning and technical proficiency with the principles of Jean Watson’s Caritas Theory to support healing environments for clients across the adult lifespan. Learners will apply the nursing process in complex and evolving care situations, demonstrating accountability, leadership, and collaboration within interdisciplinary teams. The course also fosters reflection on personal values, cultural humility, and professional identity as students transition to the role of a graduate practical nurse. As part of this course, students will have the opportunity to explore advanced training that is aligned with current industry standards and emerging practice needs.
