Maternal Newborn Caring Practical Nursing

Catalog description
This course introduces practical nursing students to the foundational principles and practices of maternal and child health care. Emphasis is placed on the nurse’s role in promoting and supporting the health and well-being of patients during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the postpartum period, as well as the care of newborns infants. Students will explore normal and high-risk conditions in both maternal and newborn populations and develop skills in family-centered care, growth and development, health teaching, and culturally sensitive communication. The concepts of Watson’s Caring Science and Human Caring Theory, and Quality and Safety in Education Nurses (QSEN) will be utilized throughout this course
