Spanish for Advanced Beginners

Catalog description
SPN 1020 is a second-semester Spanish class that focuses on skills development in listening, speaking, reading, and writing Spanish, along with cultural elements from the Spanish-speaking world. Students learn vocabulary about a variety of topics, such as daily routine, work and profession, buildings, health, home, etc. Students communicate in sentences, using present and past tenses. Additionally, students apply their grammar and vocabulary knowledge to write a simple paragraph in Spanish. Lastly, students examine various examples of culture and civilization in the Spanish-speaking world and reflect on the similarities and differences to their own culture. NOTE: Students with two years of high school Spanish or equivalent need to contact the Academic Coordinator of Foreign Languages to determine eligibility for this course. Prerequisite(s): SPN-1010 or two years of high school Spanish or equivalent. Spanish courses meet for 3 class hours and 1 additional lab hour per week or equivalent.
