Catalog description

This course prepares the medical imaging student to provide safe, effective, and ethical patient care in the practice of radiologic technology. Using an interdisciplinary approach, students gain an understanding of the relationship between the medical imaging technologist and other healthcare professionals. A survey of medico-legal issues prepares the student to differentiate between the legal and ethical responsibilities of the medical imaging technologist. Additionally, students will learn and practice communication methods required to work with diverse patient populations. Lectures are complemented by skills-based lab sessions that prepare students to assess patients and respond appropriately to acute changes in patient status; safely transfer and transport patients; apply infection control practices; and safely use medications. Formerly offered as RAD-1510. This course is also offered as NUM-1520. Students may only receive credit for one of these courses: NUM-1520, RAD-1510, RAD-1520.
