Catalog description

In this introductory weight training course, students learn various strength training methodologies to build muscular strength and endurance. Students apply training principles to major muscle groups and develop safe, effective techniques for progressive resistance weight training. Students implement an individualized program using free weights, resistance machines, and specific strength exercises for optimal gains in muscular strength, muscular endurance, lean body composition, and motor performance. Formerly offered as PED-1000 Lifetime Fitness and Leisure Activities. Students may not receive credit for both PED-1000 and PED-1080.
