Catalog description
Theory and skills required to function in the clinical setting. Focus is on health, wellness and health promotion for the entire life span. Apply learned concepts in the clinical laboratory, including, sterile procedures and aseptic technique, medication calculation and administration, health measurements and metrics, and assisting with clinical procedures. Strong emphasis on clinical documentation, the infection cycle, infection control, methods of prevention including Standard Precautions, protective personal equipment, OSHA regulations, Material Safety Data Sheets, and the guidelines pertaining to safe practice in the clinical setting. Students are required to perform select procedures on each other during college laboratory Prerequisite(s): HIM-1530 , MAS-1100 with grade of C or higher. 3 class/3 lab hours.
