Intro to Python

Catalog description

In this course, students learn the concepts, principles, techniques, and tools needed for developing scripts and programs in Python. Students learn to build flowcharts to demonstrate programming logic. Students write basic Python code that incorporates decision structures and repetition structures. Students write functions, using multi-module, multi-library programs, to create reusable code in manageable chunks. Additionally, students process input/output data for a variety of data types and use files, libraries, dictionaries, sets, lists, and tuples to manage multiple data items. Students also write scripts to automate routine tasks or processes with Command Line Interface (CLI) and Application Programming Interface (API) tools. In addition, students apply object-oriented programming techniques and tools to a variety of projects, including real-life applications. This credit course may also be taken as a continuing education course TEC-655 Introduction to Python.
