Catalog description

Topics in deformable bodies in axial, torsional, bending and combined loading. This course extends the introductory strength of materials to intermediate continuum mechanics. Other topics include statically indeterminate and temperature effect analysis; beam, column, and pressure vessel configuration. More advanced topics include structural stability, analysis of one- and two-dimensional structures, inelastic material behavior and energy methods. Formerly EGR-2020. Students may not receive credit for both EGR-2020 and EGR-2220.
