Criminal Investigation

Catalog description
A study of the fundamental principles and procedures employed in the investigation of crime. Emphasis is placed on the investigation of specific crimes, the identification of sources of information, and the procedures necessary for the proper handling of evidence. The course is designed to develop a working knowledge of the steps of investigation beginning with the initial security of the crime scene and concluding with the presentation of evidence and proper testimony in court.

Note: This section is taught in a hybrid format. A hybrid format combines classroom interaction with significant use of online instruction. Because much but not all of the instruction is online, the amount of class meeting time less than the traditional face-to-face version of the course. Students may use computers in one of the PGCC labs or home computers with Internet access to complete course activities. Students must attend every scheduled class session.
