Catalog description

This course covers the basic principles of psychopharmacology: what drugs are and how they influence psychological phenomena. Various forms of drug use and abuse are examined. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to understand how and why drugs are used for treatment for psychopathological and neuropsychological conditions; mechanisms of addiction; tolerance and abuse; the social recreational and religious context; and the history of substance abuse. Prerequisites: PSYC 2301 or PSYC 1113.
