This course introduces the students to the economy of the United States that is essential to the administration of healthcare facilities in the future. Advance nurse administrators will analyze the factors that lead to the involvement of economics in healthcare, focusing on the role, theories, models, and tools utilized. Students compare alternative uses of limited resources and synthesize the consequences of each alternative. Economics provides a mechanism for making system decisions regarding the use limited resources. Understanding the principles and models that drive the economics of healthcare is essential for all decision makers to improve the delivery of cost-effective, high quality care. Prerequisites: ( NURS 7301 or NURS 7013) and ( NURS 7306 or NURS 7033) and ( NURS 7302 or NURS 7023).
