Catalog description

The course background is the evolution of incarceration and detention in the United States. It covers alternative custodial practices that achieve social control, especially in the community. It also includes incarcerated persons’ responses to confinement (during and following imprisonment) and the impact of incarceration on families and communities. Prerequisites: JJUS 5312 or JJUS 5123 and ( JJUS 5376 or JJUS 5763) and ( JJUS 5394 or JJUS 5943).
