Catalog description

In this course, students will be challenged to think critically about the media content they encounter in their daily lives (e.g., film, television, new media, and social media). Throughout the semester, we will analyze, interpret, and evaluate media texts. We will also examine the forces that drive the media industries and reflection the ways the media influence society and culture. Clips, screenings, and other examples will familiarize students with a variety of cultures and prompt students' consideration of different points of view. Prerequisites: ENGL 1301 or ENGL 1123.
