Catalog description

Explores the human element of technological development in a pre-industrial historical context. Introduces concepts, approaches, and theoretical lenses from a variety of humanities and social sciences disciplines. Focuses on various historical and geographical contexts; ecological climates; and human traditions, literatures, philosophies, theologies, arts, musics, histories, and mythologies from across the globe. Emphasis is placed on Indigeneity and Indigenous peoples, worldviews, and knowledges from global examples. Contrasts both material and non-material aspects of technology, assessing how technology influences thought processes and vice versa. Prerequisites: ( WR 115 and RD 115 ) or IRW 115 and MTH 20 or equivalent placement. Audit available.
