Catalog description

Introduces the field of clinical laboratory sciences with a focus on theoretical knowledge in phlebotomy, laboratory organization, laboratory safety, quality assurance, and laboratory regulations. Reviews the utilization of basic laboratory equipment, point-of-care testing, and laboratory information systems. Emphasizes professionalism in a healthcare setting, including communication and documentation according to laboratory protocols. Lab skills will be acquired through on-the-job training. Prerequisites: Acceptance into Medical Laboratory Technology Apprenticeship Program. Audit available.
