Catalog description

This course provides students valuable clinical experience and simulated practice in caring for adult and elderly patients experiencing common medical-surgical conditions. Building on previous coursework, students will apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients with alterations in oxygenation, inflammation, fluid and electrolyte balance, sensory perception, cellular damage (e.g., post-surgical), and reproductive health. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based practice, critical thinking, person-centered care, interprofessional collaboration, and ethical decision-making. Students will also refine their skills in therapeutic communication, care planning, and patient information and resources management. Sixty (60) clinical practice and simulation laboratory hours. Pre-requisite(s): NUR 2110 , NUR 2121 , NUR 2122 , NUR 2123 , NUR 2311 , NUR 2312 , NUR 2321 , NUR 2322 Corequisite(s): NUR 3121
