Essential Clinical Care I is a foundational course designed to equip first-year medical students with the core clinical skills necessary for effective patient-centered care. The course emphasizes the development of communication techniques, medical history taking, physical examination, point-of-care ultrasound, and documentation practices that are critical for clinical encounters across diverse patient populations. Through a combination of lectures, small group discussions (SGDs), standardized patient exercises, and formative assessments, students will learn to conduct comprehensive medical encounters and accurately document clinical findings.
