Catalog description

Fundamentals of Social Determinants of Health will provide students with basic aspects about history, theory, and key concepts in the study of social determinants of health (SDH) with an emphasis in health-related research. The course will focus on the application of conceptual frameworks that contribute to the understanding of how the circumstances in which people live shape their health outcomes. Students will analyze diverse interdisciplinary approaches (i.e. Public Health, Anthropology, Medicine, Psychology, etc.) to the study and research of SDH. Students will identify specific strategies to contribute to the eradication of inequities affecting the physical and mental health of the Latino/a population.
