Catalog description

This course provides a comprehensive overview of the physiological and psychosocial aspects of the childbearing experience, preparing students to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered care to women and their families. Students will develop a strong understanding of normal and high-risk pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the postpartum period. Emphasis will be placed on evidence-based practice, critical thinking, and interprofessional collaboration. Students will learn to utilize technology to access and apply current information to optimize patient care. Ethical and legal considerations related to maternity care will also be explored. Forty-five (45) lecture hours. Pre-requisite(s): NUR 2110 , NUR 2121 , NUR 2122 , NUR 2123 , NUR 2311 , NUR 2312 , Corequisite(s): NUR 3172
